About Us
Kawaguchi Christ Church was founded in 1995 by Pastor Donald Schaeffer, who came to Japan as a missionary from the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA).
Kawaguchi Christ Church is now led by Pastor Kouichi Motonomi and the Eldership. It is a part of the Alliance Church Network, a group of churches associated with the C&MA.
The current church membership is about 30 people, some attending the Sunday Morning Service in person, and some attending remotely via our live streaming of the worship service.
Pastor
Pastor Kouichi Motonomi became Pastor in Nov. 2014 and has led the church since.
His wife Kelly works tirelessly in the church.

Elders
Lachlan Michael
I was baptized as a high school student in Australia. I moved to Japan in 1995 and joined Kawaguchi Christ Church in 2000. Since 2020/4 we started live worship streaming on Sunday mornings.
Toshiyuki Nakazawa
I was part of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers and was saved by Jesus when in Malaysia. After I came back to Japan I joined Kawaguchi Christ Church. I am now studying at the JTJ Seminary by distance learning.
Akihito Kirito
I was baptized in 1999 and moved to Saitama prefecture in 2003. After joining Kawaguchi Christ Church my wife and I spent many years working overseas. We returned to Japan and I became an elder in 2023.
